A wiki is a "site that can be modified or contributed to by users".[1] This collaborative technology was developed by American computer programmer Ward Cunningham in 1995. Cunningham was inspired by Apple's HyperCard system, which allowed users to assemble virtual "card stacks" with links connecting information. He called his software WikiWikiWeb ("wiki" means "quick" in Hawaiian). The online encyclopedia Wikipedia is the most popular website that uses wiki software.[1]
